Mitch Ware visits his Mother in 2018.

Mitch with his Mom, 2018.

Welcome! I'm So Glad You're Here.

Welcome to Living with Hospice!  I'm your host, Mitch Ware.  I am a long time Hospice bedside volunteer musician in my community of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  In 2004, my son, Matt, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and required full time care.  He was given a prognosis of 6 to 12 months. We fought his cancer for 39 months. The last year was with the help of a local Hospice organization.  Inspired by the difference that hospice made in my life as well as that of my family, I have volunteered for several hospice organizations over the last 13 years.  I have a passion for sharing my experiences, strength and hope with other people who are on an end of life journey.  My experience as a caregiver and as a volunteer have helped me understand the inner workings and philosophy of hospice care.  I understand the challenge of this situation, the decisions and sacrifices needed on this journey, and through this podcast, I hope to reach those who are considering or who are already on this journey.  I provide straight, unfiltered information for families to make an informed decision on most any issue regarding hospice care.

As you will hear in my podcasts, I am not a therapist, I'm not a doctor and I'm not a nurse.  But I have hands on, real life experience both as a client and primary caregiver, as well as a bedside volunteer. And finally, this podcast is not sponsored or affiliated with any organization.  This allows me the freedom to provide to you the straight facts - the good, the bad and everything in between.  If you have any questions or comments, please drop me a line below and I may address those in a future episode.

Thanks for listening!  Have a Blessed day!
